Salford RLFC Launch Successful Community Training Evenings at Langworthy Reds

Salford RLFC’s first team were in attendance at Langworthy Reds for our first community training evening last Friday.

The initiative with the city’s local amateur Rugby League clubs, was created by one of our Board of Directors, Paul Hancock.

Paul, who has been involved with coaching at community level for a number of years, has a passion for bringing together local community clubs, younger players and the club.

Over 150 people were at the event last Friday and this has definitely set the tone future of these evenings, with three more community training sessions still to come.

Paul Hancock, Board of Director at Salford RLFC, said:

“A massive thank you to Langworthy Reds for all of the effort that has been put into organising this training evening.

“The interaction between the players, families and supporters was immense, it was a very proud day for the club.

“The people at Langworthy made it apparent that this type of engagement was a huge step forward in developing club and community relationships.

“I am really looking forward to the continuation of these events at Folly Lane ARLFC on Friday the 29th of May.

“On a personal note it meant more to me to be able to support and deliver this event than it did on the opening game of the season, that is how much it meant to me.”

Bobby Ricci, Chairman at Langworthy Reds, said:

“It was a really successful evening, and the feedback from parents was that they felt very comfortable with their kids and the players at the event.

“I think it helped that it was so natural when the players and coaches came over.

“A lot of the kids don’t fully understand rugby, but to see the players coming down to their club has really inspired them, and because of that they now want to start attending more games.”

“There has been a bit of a disconnection in previous years, but things like this training evening really help.”
